70-210mm supertest images: close focus.
samsung NX20, Av mode, Auto WB, 200ASA.
Subject is a bank note glued to a white board, there is also a millimetre rule along the top edge.
Natural lighting in the conservatory, a macro rail and 7x magnification in the EVF was used to fine focus.
Camera alignment was checked at the start with a carpenters square with alignment pins on it, so the camera is pretty square on,
however I didn't recheck with every movement of the camera + tripod closer/further from the subject.
Images were taken at 1:4 magnification for all the lenses, this being the maximum magnification of the Tokina VS1 and the Kiron zoomlock,
then also at maximum magnification for the other lenses.
Lens | 19AH | 52A | kiron ZL | VS1-kiron | VS1 tokina | VS1 komine |
Max mag1 | 1:2.66 | 1:1.96 | 1:3.96 | 1:2.21 | | 1:2.57 |
CWD2 | 63.5cm/25" | 51cm/20" | 93cm/36.5" | 7.5cm/3" | | 60cm/23.5" |
1Calculated from the mm scale in the image relative to published sensor size of 23.5mm across.
2Measured from the front of the lens.
All images taken at the minimum focus distance of the lens. Magnification ratio is adjusted with the
zoom ring on all the lenses, this changes the focal length on all except the kiron VS1.
In macro mode moving the zoom ring on the Kiron VS1 changes the focusing distance.

Use the dropdowns to select the lenses and the buttons below them to select the apertures for comparison.
Image sizes ~4MB, allow time to load.
NOTE: if you change lens or f-number and the image doesn't seem to load, try refreshing the page.
If that doesn't work try a different browser eg Chrome (firefox seems a little sticky).
